Senior year is such an important, busy, precious time for your family! Senior year is full of special moments; Senior Portraits are a priceless way for you and your family to remember and treasure this special year, a year that marks a huge transition for your son or daughter, and for your family. My son, Carl, graduated in 2012; my daughter, Grace, is in the Class of 2016. I really understand your concerns!
Some Parent FAQs and concerns...
When should we schedule senior portraits?
Believe it or not, as soon as possible, preferably spring of their Junior year. Summer is busy with vacations, jobs, SATs, and college visits. School due dates for Senior Portrait yearbook images vary from August to October. Of course I'm happy to schedule summer sessions, but it's great to be able to cross off one item on the Senior Year list. As a little extra incentive, I offer spring bonuses for sessions held through May.
I know Senior Portraits are important, but I just don't know where to start!
I will make your Senior's portrait experience fun and relaxed, and I'll walk you through each step. All of our Portrait Sessions include a pre-session Planning Consultation. We'll discuss all of the details, from locations, to outfit choices, to how you'll want to use your images. A few weeks after your Portrait Session, you'll be able to view your edited images at your Viewing and Ordering appointment. We have a great system to help you select which images to use for what purpose. I promise to make the whole process easy for you!
Where do you take the Senior Portraits?
I have dozens of locations around the county that we can use, some exclusively. As we're planning, we'll identify a location that will resonate with your Senior, reflecting who they are, where they are in life's journey. I encourage Seniors to include their pets, horses, cars, hobbies, even friends! - anything that will help tell their story, and help you preserve this time in your lives.
I'm not sure my son/daughter is really looking forward to Senior Portraits...
I understand! Virtually no one is immediately comfortable in front of the camera. That's why I take some time before the session to get to know you and your Senior. Our sessions are informal and customized for you. I'll have your Senior walk around, and poses will be comfortable and natural (none of those silly, stiff poses they made us do!). I think the fact that I'm just another Mom makes it easier for the kids to relax and be themselves.
My daughter and I have very different ideas of what her portraits should be.
Not a problem! We'll discuss your preferences in your consultation. Your images can include everything from a more traditional look and outfits, to avante garde, artsy, athletic, vintage, etc., looks. You'll see a variety of images at your Viewing and Ordering Session, and I'll help you choose which images are best for all your needs - from yearbook and prints for relatives, to wall art, photo books, announcements - even special memory pieces for your Senior to take with them to college!
Do you offer announcements, albums, and other things besides prints?
I have a wonderful range of ways for you to enjoy your portraits! We will custom design books, announcements, even jewelry! Your images can be designed to be archival prints, on canvas, framed, even printed on metal or wood. We offer great flexibility in how you order and utilize your portraits (nothing like those school packages!) - so you'll receive the artwork that is best for your family!
Are you on our school's preferred photographer list?
We are on the approved lists for Arroyo Grande H.S., Nipomo H.S., and Mission College Prep. School policies vary; I'm happy to work with any SLO County schools.

"Jennifer captured Lauren's personality perfectly. Lauren had a specific setting that she wanted for her pictures, a field of flowers. Jennifer researched and found a flower farm close by for the photographs. Jennifer was very professional and well-prepared." Cindy
